Liberal Arts Course "The Five Literacies": In addition to the audiovisual media unique to an art university, such as visual and sound media, we offer a well-rounded curriculum that cultivates essential communication literacies in English, Japanese, and information. Furthermore, these literacies are expanded through project-based and inquiry-based classes focusing on issues like "locality" and "network," as well as through small seminar groups. This helps improve practical skills and enhances communication abilities to engage people, things, and events.
"Experiential Classes Inside and Outside the University":
Not limited to on-campus activities, students broaden their horizons by exploring various domestic locations from Nagoya and beyond, as well as overseas. Through exposure to different cultures, students develop the ability to "see the essence of things."

Nurturing children's feelings to become "creators of the future"

Elementary School Education Course Children's English Course Children's ICT Course Children's Creative Expression Course Early Childhood Education & Childcare Course Children's Support Course Children's Health & Sports Course "Childhood Foundation": As part of the first-year foundational education, we implement a common curriculum called "Childhood Foundation." In this program, students comprehensively learn the basics of the seven courses available for selection from the second year. After experiencing and exploring all specialized fields, students can choose their desired course based on their interests and aptitudes.
"Specialized Expertise Beyond the Basics in Seven Courses":
In recent years, the field of education and childcare has faced many complex challenges, and educators are expected to have an even higher level of specialized skills. The Department of Childhood Education offers seven diverse and specialized courses to equip students with the "new practical skills in education and childcare" required for the future. Students can acquire specialized expertise that will greatly benefit them in their education and childcare careers.

    "An Environment Close to Children":
The department features close proximity to six affiliated nursery schools nearby, offering students opportunities to participate in events and practical training. This environment allows students to naturally develop the qualities of an educator through their daily lives.

"An Environment Rich in the Arts":
The department’s greatest feature is that it is part of an art university. Learning alongside students dedicated to the arts and being exposed to various forms of creative expression over four years nurtures "sensibility," enriches "imagination," and enhances the ability to "empathize." This art-filled environment helps shape a deeper, more essential approach to the practical skills needed in education and childcare.
